Carer Profile: What is a typical ALHomecare Live-in Carer like?

Most of our carers come from Eastern Europe to take up these live-in positions. We have found during the past nearly 8 years, that Eastern Europe provides the best pool of available carers. However, we also recruit live-in carers from the UK, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Greece, South Africa and Ireland.

Most of our carers are female, aged 30 to 60 years old. They either have experience of caring for their own elderly relatives or they have worked professionally as carers.

All our carers have a good to very good level of English, caring disposition and willingness to make a commitment of at least 6th months to working as a live-in carer with ALHomecare.

Carers from abroad are attracted by live-in care positions because the family is offering a complete package of accommodation, food and a reasonable salary. This suits someone coming from abroad a lot more than someone who is already living in Ireland and probably has their own home , family and friends here.

Most of our carers are career carers and once they start working with ALJHomecare, most of them continue to work with us for many years because they like this type of work.
